1st Young Entrepreneurs in Action Hellas Conference
Young Leaders (Association of Young Entrepreneurs Hellas) organized a conference for the promotion of youth entrepreneurship in Greece entitled “YEAH! – Young Entrepreneurs in Action Hellas.”The event that took place on Tuesday, 11 October 2011 at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation was supported by the General Secretariat for Youth and The Stavros Niarchos Foundation. It seeked to attract the interest of young people between 18-30 years of age. The aim of the conference, given Greece’s current difficult economic situation, was to give a hopeful outlook to young people, and encourage entrepreneurism by showcasing entrepreneurs who managed at a young age to overcome obstacles and create profitable businesses through dynamic and innovative actions. Participants had the opportunity to listen to the experiences – good and bad – of young, successful entrepreneurs, and share their questions and concerns related to starting, financing, and promoting a business. The keynote speaker of the conference was Ben Casnocha who founded Comcate, an e-government software company, at the age of 14. Ben spoke to the young participants about entrepreneurship and developing a new business by drawing on and sharing his own experiences. A panel discussion followed, highlighting the road to success, best practices, and challenges associated with transforming an idea into a business. Greek entrepreneurs who took the risk to create will participate. The panel discussion was succeeded by two free interactive workshops.
- Workshop 1: From the Idea to the Business Plan: “I have an idea, but I don’t know where to start. What should I consider first, and what should my strategy be? How do I create a business plan? How do I attract funding?”
- Workshop 2: From Business Plan to Success: “How can I promote my company and products? What are the current trends in social media and how can they help me spread the word about my idea or company?”
The members of Young Leaders seek to promote creativity, inspiration and entrepreneurism through activities both in Greece and abroad. The purpose of the association is to advance youth entrepreneurship in Greece via dynamic and innovative actions. A key element for the achievement of these goals and objectives is to strengthen the capacity of young entrepreneurs to combine creativity and innovation through better management, and the ability to adapt their business to current global developments.
